Our Company
Stroma Specialist Access provides a professional inspection, maintenance and examination service for major UK infrastructure projects on the rail and highways networks and for buildings. With nationwide coverage and over 30 years’ experience, we offer clients bespoke project support using specialist difficult access methods.
What you will be doing
The Bridge Inspector will be involved in the Inspection & reporting on the condition of Highways (including Motorways, major trunk roads and local authority) and railway structures supporting the companies M25 Inspection framework.
The role is a combination of site based around the M25 (and adjoining interfaces) and will involve working from home for the purposes of planning inspections and report writing. You may also be required to work within offices/depots within the M25 network for reporting.
The role is part of the site-based inspection team within the larger Inspection & Maintenance Department. The Highways Inspector will also support other I&M activities as business needs and workload dictate.
Duties and Responsibilities
• Carry out PI, GI, and SI’s, plus testing and investigation work in support of the Highways business, working to relevant industry standards (ie CS450, CS454).
• Write Inspection reports including use of condition marking indexes via the relevant software / Portals.
• Cary out some bridge inspections during night shifts to support the Highways business
• To ensure all work assigned by the team leader is carried out safely and to timescale.
• To ensure that you work and comply within the personal responsibilities detailed in the current Health and Safety legislation and to assist in the Company quality objectives of no accidents
• To ensure that all equipment, including personal protective equipment issued is fit for purpose and safety checked before each project assignment.
• To maintain a professional relationship with all clients and work colleagues and adhere to Stroma dress code standards / client PPE requirements.
• Assist admin staff in the scheduling of works / delivery of projects to ensure that the work is conducted as efficiently as possible
• Ensure compliance with company policies
• Assist in other duties within the scope, spirit and purpose of the role
What you will need
• Methodical and disciplined approach to work
• Strong general IT skills
• Adaptability and the ability to learn quickly – including self-directed learning when faced with new requirements
• Communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to liaise effectively with clients, site operatives and suppliers
• Ability to work as part of a team
• Proven record of enhancing their own industry knowledge to further their development and technical understanding
• Full UK Driving licence
• Understanding of built structures – their construction, repair and mechanisms of failure
• Previous experience of structures inspection is desirable
• Previous experience of working within the highways or Rail environment is desirable
• Flexible attitude towards work and working hours
