Theory and practical training to become qualified to undertake Air Tightness Testing.
Complete training to join the Air Tightness Testing and Measurement Association (ATTMA) competent person scheme.
Additional modules available for trainees wishing to refresh their envelope calculation skills and gain the Envelope Calculation Technician status.
The Level 1 Air Tightness 4-day Course includes theory and practical training and examinations to enable trainees to register as a Level 1 Tester on the ATTMA scheme for testing domestic dwellings and small commercial buildings.
Level 1 - Entry level for new Air Tightness Testers, allowing them to test single dwellings and small, simple buildings with a single fan.
Days 1-3: Classroom Covering the NOS documents as required by the MTC for a Level 1 Tester: ASTATT1, ASTATT2, ASTATT3, ASTATT5, ASTATT6, ASTATT7, ASTATT8 and ASTATT9.
Day 4 – Examinations
• Multiple choice theory exam
• Envelope Area Calculation exam
• Practical Air Tightness Test exam
Report review
Upon course completion, candidates are required to carry out 3 Air Tightness Tests with full reports and calculations. Once passed, you’ll be eligible for registration to the ATTMA competent person scheme.

Our Level 2 training is designed to progress Air Tightness Testers from Level 1 to carry out multi-fan testing for larger commercial buildings. Level 2 training includes:
Level 2 training includes:
Module 1: Basic Envelope Area Calculations: A refresher module in 3D modelling of simple envelope areas and volumes.
Module 2: Advanced Envelope Area Calculations: Covering advanced envelope area calculation techniques needed for Level 2 testing,
including circles, ellipses and curves, multiple angled pitch roof interfaces, and tapering on plan with a pitched roof.
Module 3: Multi-Fan Testing: Covering the testing of larger and more complicated buildings with multiple fans, including testing larger buildings with multiple fans, permanently compartmentalised buildings and large extensions to commercial buildings.
Module 4: Multi-Fan Practical: The application of the information covered in module 3.
Examinations: A practical exam, involving the testing of a large commercial building and a multi-choice theory exam covering modules 3-4.
Level 2 training also allows trainees to register as an Envelope Calculation Technician. The Envelope Calculations module is for individuals who are authorised to carry out envelope area and volume calculations but are not authorised to test.
