Watson Batty Architects has become the latest lead designers to secure Building Information Modelling (BIM) Certification , provided by leading certification body, Stroma Certification. The certification for BIM is provided in line with the PAS 1192:2:2013 standard; the current mandated construction standard for centrally procured public sector contracts.
With certification, Watson Batty can provide further confidence to their clients and employers of their BIM capability, including demonstrating compliance with the requirements of BIM Level 2 as a Task Team.
Watson Batty has over 40 years’ experience in designing a range of buildings across a variety of sectors. At present, they have studios in Leeds and Loughborough and employ over 40 architects, interior designers, technicians and master planners.
At Watson Batty, they believe in creating inspiring buildings that achieve the required commercial objectives, whilst meeting the needs of the building users, environment and local community.
Prominent in the construction industry, Stroma Certification has been developing certification schemes for more than a decade. Our BIM Certification Scheme complies with the Government’s mandate for BIM Level 2 on all centrally procured public sector contracts. Delivered in line with the PAS 1192-2 standard (specification for information management for the cap/delivery phase of construction projects using BIM), certification also offers global assurance. The scheme is suitable for designers, contractors and the wider supply chain, and helps organisations to identify their role in the construction lifecycle in the context of BIM.
Nick Hewitson, Architect, Watson Batty Architects said, “We have been utilising the benefits of BIM, such as collaboration, clash detection and increased production efficiency for the past 5 years. BIM certification now provides clients with further confidence that our practice has embraced BIM to a Level 2 standard. The certification strengthens how we can further develop and bring the benefits of BIM to our clients. Virtual reality, cost analysis and FM integration are just some of the avenues we’ll be exploring as we move forward.”
Peter White, Managing Director, Watson Batty Architects, said, “Our ethos is ‘Future Built’. Attaining this certification is another exciting step forward for the practice and our continual drive to provide the very best service to our clients. The use of Revit in the office, along with the integration of BIM into our working procedures, has allowed us to streamline our processes. It has also provided our information with greater detail and clarity and allowed us to co-ordinate with clients and project teams with an intimacy never previously possible. Without doubt, BIM is here to stay at Watson Batty Architects.”
Niraj Mistry, Head of BIM, Stroma Certification, said “I am pleased to see Watson Batty Architects gain BIM Level 2 Certification; they are leading the way as SME architects in the regions they operate. I have seen their commitment to allowing their staff to grow in BIM, which sets a good example for the industry. Their certification is timely, as the demand for BIM increases in both public and private contract notices.”
