NEWS: Ofgem U-value consultation

Ofgem has launched a consultation on additional requirements for overwriting U-values for cavity wall insulation measures installed under ECO.

These proposals are to ensure a consistent approach to evidencing overwritten U-values. This will give Ofgem, obligated energy companies and the wider ECO supply chain further assurance that carbon and cost savings for these measures are being correctly calculated.

The proposal consists of three parts that Ofgem would like to be considered in terms of suitability in achieving the objective and practicality of implementation:

Ofgem U-Value Consultation

  • Introducing an upper limit for overwritten U-values
  • Stipulating the evidence to be in place when a U-value is overwritten and how inputs will be collected
  • A regime to monitor these measures; the proposal suggests three approaches for implementing monitoring
