Stroma has completed the acquisition of leading building environmental sustainability company, HRS Services Ltd, based in South Yorkshire. This bolsters the Group's expertise in building compliance services already available through companies Stroma Tech and BBS Environmental.
HRS Services Ltd is a prominent provider of integrated technical services within the built environment. Founded by Ed and Tom Westgate in 1986, the company has two core businesses: building environmental sustainability services for the construction sector and inspection and maintenance services for rail and road infrastructure.
In the short to medium term both Stroma Tech and HRS Services will operate as separate legal entities in order to fulfil existing client contracts and continue providing an excellent quality of services. In due course the companies will merge into a single business alongside BBS Environmental (the sustainability company acquired through the Group's 2016 acquisition of the BBS Group).
The acquisition represents a coup to the Stroma Group, who now boast an increasingly broad multi-disciplinary service offering to the built environment and major UK industry sectors. Combining the respective strengths and expertise of Stroma Tech and HRS will create the largest integrated services business of its kind in the UK. Both companies currently provide complementary market-leading service portfolios (including air testing, acoustic testing, SAP, BREEAM, SBEM and Code for Sustainable Homes), whilst also being able to bring specific expertise to strengthen the core service provision of each business. For Stroma Tech this includes Health & Safety consultancy, Thermal Modelling and Planning Assistance; HRS offer new service lines such as infrastructure inspection & maintenance, noise, dust and vibration assessment, ecology assessments and air quality assessments. This exciting and diversified service offering will be available across the UK via an extensive network of expert field based consultants.
Robert Coxon, Managing Director, Stroma Technology Ltd, said: "This is a landmark moment for the staff, customers and clients of both HRS and Stroma Tech. The combined expertise and increased range of services brought to market by each business will help us continue to deliver excellence to UK industry."
Chris Whitehead, Managing Director, HRS Services Ltd, said: "Joining the Stroma Group will enable HRS to continue its success in the longer term by securing future growth and long term prosperity for our clients and staff. This sale will enable a closer working relationship between HRS and Stroma Tech as we confirm our place in the industry as the market leader for environmental sustainability."
