Stroma welcomes this consultation response, as it now provides clarity on the pathway ahead for Domestic Retrofit, initially under ECO
On the 1st April 2020 there will be a change to the Minimum Energy Efficiency Standards or MEES for domestic landlords.
In September 2015, the Stroma Group completed the acquisition of multi-disciplinary Building Control service provider, Greendoor Building Control & Specialist Services Limited (Greendoor). The addition of Greendoor marked Stroma's first major acquisition since the management buyout of the Stroma Group in 2014 by LDC and the first of its kind in the Building Control sector.
Greendoor's array of clients, including homeowners, architectural practices, project managers, surveyors, landlords and agents, made the business an ideal procurement to support Stroma's expansion into the Building Control and Approved Inspector sector. With over a decade of experience growing their revenues and client base, Greendoor had an impressive portfolio of working in both domestic and large scale commercial projects. Greendoor provided the experience, expertise and national coverage which the Stroma Group required to develop a market leading organisation.
Since the acquisition of Greendoor, the Stroma Group have acquired two additional Approved Inspector organisations, Approved Design Consultancy and BBS Building Control, meaning there are now three independent Construction Industry Council (CIC) Approved Inspector companies working with clients on a nationwide basis, both for domestic and commercial projects.
In addition to Greendoor, Approved Design and BBS, the Stroma Group also comprises Stroma Certification, Stroma Software, Stroma Tech and HRS Services Ltd to offer a comprehensive and professional service which caters for varying requirements throughout built environment and energy efficiency sectors. With three Approved Inspector organisations now forming part of the Stroma Group, we are able to offer our services throughout the RIBA Plan of Work to ensure our clients' projects meet all design and sustainability targets as well as ensuring regulatory compliance. Our expert teams are able to provide advice and technical guidance throughout each stage of a development or project to ensure our clients' requirements are met.
Stroma has always been at the forefront of service provision within our core industries. As a leading authority on building, sustainability and compliance, the Stroma Group has a turnover in excess of £30m with over 400 employees. We work across the built environment and energy efficiency sectors, offering certification, software, training and compliance services, in addition to Building Control following the acquisition of our 3 Approved Inspectors. The Group has expanded dramatically in recent years and Stroma hopes to continue to grow further to drive our capabilities into new markets.
Steve Lonsdale (Managing Director of Greendoor) was able to bring over 20 years of experience in Building Control to the Stroma Group, including a reputation for a high-quality, proactive service provision.
Steve said: 'We were delighted upon Greendoor's acquisition to become a part of the Stroma Group in 2015. Over the past 2 years we have faced a number of new challenges and opportunities which have helped the Group develop our client-focused, expertise-driven and professional service. Introducing our clients to the Stroma brand has been a great success and the reputation which Stroma holds has helped to develop our Building Control capabilities into the wider construction industry.'
