Stroma staff across the Castleford, Wakefield, Sheffield and Bedford offices arranged a charity Bake Off event to raise money for the Prince of Wales Hospice’s 30for30 fundraising campaign. The event was a huge success and raised more than £150 in support of the hospice.
The Prince of Wales Hospice supports patients with life limiting conditions with palliative care and also offers support to their families. In November 2019 they will celebrate their 30th anniversary. The 30for30 campaign was launched to try and attract 30 new local businesses as corporate fundraisers. Stroma became involved and has a target to raise £1,000 for the hospice during the course of 2019.
Stroma arranged our charity Bake Off on Wednesday 17 April. Coming just before the Bank Holiday weekend, the timing provided staff with the perfect inspiration to create a collection of Easter themed treats. There were mini-egg cupcakes, bunny decorated cakes and an enormous amount of chocolate.
The winner of the Bake Off was Hayley Saul, in the Accounts department, for her mouth-watering Chocolate Orange cake. Hayley collected a gift voucher as a prize for her efforts. John Robinson, our NDEA Scheme Manager, also won a prize in the Lucky Squares game. The Prince of Wales Hospice kindly provided a chocolate hamper which John was delighted to win.
Staff also generously contributed to Hospice funds by donating collection bags with clothes, accessories, books and toys. The Big Spring Clean saw a number of bags collected which will be calculated and added to Stroma’s fundraising total.
Tracey Mearns, Partnership Development Coordinator at the Prince of Wales Hospice, commented: "Great to see one of the first 30th Birthday Parties taking place today to celebrate our 30th year supporting our patients. Thanks to all the teams at Stroma for baking such amazing cakes and raising vital funds."
Stroma will be continuing to raise money for the Hospice throughout 2019. If you would like to find out more about the Hospice or donate please visit The Prince of Wales Hospice website.
