The Project

DIS is always looking at how they can make their business processes more efficient in order to deliver even higher levels of customer service. Their initial project to use Formation Software to speed up the completion of site surveys and quotations was extremely successful. Integrating the software made a previously time-consuming process, involving complex sites and systems, much easier.

DIS’ customers require an assessment of what and where equipment will be installed. All health and safety risks need to be documented, as well as having methods and proof that they have been mitigated. This task was traditionally managed using paper-based site plans, 100’s of photographs and pages of detailed notes. Once back at the office this information needed to be compiled and typed up manually, alongside risk assessments and method statements.


Formation Software revolutionised this process, which is now completed digitally on an Android tablet. All site plans are loaded into the software and can be marked up on device with digital photos and site notes. Using a simple digital form all data capture requirements can be completed. The completed information is sent back in real time to the Formation Management Studio in the office to prepare Technical Survey Reports, Risk Assessments and Method Statements for customers.

Formation Software saves an average of 0.5 days admin time for each Technical Consultant which is a dramatic saving over the course of a year. Subsequently, this saved on recruitment cost as DIS’ existing staff had more time to cope with increasing customer demand.

Completed jobs are passed instantly to the back office system so that DIS' accounts team can process the data much more quickly.
