Stroma Certification releases new consultation response

Stroma Certification has released a response to the government’s consultation on Improving the Energy Performance of Privately Rented Homes.

The government states that it ‘has committed to upgrade as many private rented sector homes as possible to Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) Band C by 2030, where practical, cost-effective and affordable.’

The consultation sets out a suite of policy proposals. These proposals will bring significant benefits to landlords, tenants and our environment including:

  • reducing energy bills and increased comfort for tenants and supporting delivery of our statutory fuel poverty target of EPC C by 2030
  • potential property value improvements for landlords
  • delivering carbon emission savings over Carbon Budgets 4 and 5, making progress towards our net-zero target.

Stroma Certification Response

Stroma Certification are delighted that government has issued this consultation, which represents an opportunity to comment and offer alternatives to the proposals within the document.

Stroma Certification are keen for our members and clients to take this opportunity to provide the government with feedback, as this can prove vital in the process of creating legislation and regulations. We have already seen that the government is listening and willing to change their original proposals, where there is a groundswell of opinion and empirical data.
