Big Energy Saving Week 18th January
This year’s Big Energy Saving Week starts from the 18th of January through to the 24th. The week is dedicated to helping people save energy, cut fuel bills and get support to find the best deals on their energy bills for the coming year. It is a national campaign to address fuel poverty and raise awareness of the different ways people can save money.
This is the 8th year running there has been an Energy Saving Week and at its core, it looks to help people realise that they can use comparison websites and energy deal search tools to find the best deal for them. After all, it always pays to shop around. The week is supported by Citizens Advice, the Energy Saving Trust and the Department of Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy (BEIS), as well as a number of other organisations.
Consumers can use the Citizens Advice price comparison tool to compare prices from different energy suppliers or call the Consumer Helpline on 03454 04 05 06 for energy advice. To use this service, customers will need to know the name of their supplier and tariff, which can be found on their energy bill.
Another way to better understand how to switch your tariff to a cheaper supplier can be found on the government regulator for gas and electricity markets website, or OFGEM. There is a helpful 5 step guide which can be found here.
