Assessor Newsletter

November 2020

It has been a busy few months since I last wrote a newsletter introduction, during which time we have seen the launch of a brand new EPC register for E&W and NI and an update to the Scottish EPC register.

I would like to personally thank all our members for their help, support and understanding through this process. As winter is fast approaching, it would seem we are heading into another period of uncertainty with regards to the impacts of Covid-19, which is understandably concerning for Energy Assessors. Stroma Certification continue to represent Energy Assessors and attend government meetings on various key areas, be it technical, Covid-19 guidance, as well as the future trajectories of methodologies, use of EPCs and DECs and government strategy on energy efficiency.

Through our recently relaunched website and social media activities, we are now better able to keep our members up to date on the news of the day and what is happening in an around our industry. Please ensure you follow us on LinkedIn, Twitter, Facebook and Instagram for the latest news delivered to your phone, tablet or computer.

Stroma Certification is committed to representing and supporting our members in the best way possible. In this edition of the newsletter we will be seeking opinions on the major consultation on the future of Domestic MEES, the impact of a No Deal Brexit on members and also seeking interest in an opportunity around Snagging surveys.

GDPR Guidance

The General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) came into effect on Friday 25 May 2018. This replaced the old Data Protection Act and puts more responsibilities on organisations to demonstrate that they process personal data in a compliant manner. To keep Assessors up to date on the latest GDPR regulations, Stroma has published a Privacy Policy on our website which explains how we process the data of our members.

We do not provide specific guidance to members about how they can comply with GDPR. Instead, members should contact the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO), who are responsible for regulating this legislation. The ICO has published guidance for small businesses to help them comply with GDPR. If you have questions about the way in which Stroma Certification uses your data please email dataprotection@stroma.com
