Stroma Group has teamed up with Interserve to deliver our inspirational leaders programme, an Operational Departmental Manager Level 5 qualification for staff across the Group.
“I had been a manager for several years but on paper, I had no qualification to justify this status. Stroma offered to opportunity to undertake the ILM Level 5 Leadership course. During the course to date, I have been able to meet people from across the group and also picked up some key tools that will help me be a better leader. The course is intense and requires significant dedication/self-study, however, the effort will ultimately allow me to progress and strengthen the Stroma group as a whole.”
Joel Ashby, Director of Stroma Building Control’s South Residential team
Stroma Group provides staff with annual Performance Development Reviews to give them clear objectives to work towards and to help them to understand how these contribute to the overall business strategy. Our PDRs give colleagues clarity on their current performance and discuss their development needs as well as encouraging our people to see that they can have a progressive career with Stroma.
We utilise the Apprenticeship Levy to fund new apprenticeships for new and existing staff. We actively encourage our staff to suggest internal learning and development opportunities within monthly and annual reviews.
The Stroma Training Academy supports staff in our Building Control and Built Environment divisions to develop and progress their careers. We offer training, CPDs and workshops to help our people achieve formal qualifications and full professional memberships to association bodies, such as CABE, RICS and CIOB.
“My time on the Academy has allowed me to learn many new things within Building Control such as things to look out for when going through plan checks and how best to deal with issues at hand.”
Andis Mema, Assistant Building Control Officer
We’re also investing in the next generation of Building Control Surveyors with our Training Academy and BSc Hons degree in Building Control, in partnership with the University College of Estate Management.
Study whilst you gain practical on-site experience with this part-time, 4-year course. Once qualified, you’ll be able to attain professional status with CABE.
"The industry is in desperate need of more qualified professional building control resources and the launch of our new Level 6 Building Control Surveyor Degree Apprenticeship alongside our BSc (Hons) Building Control programme will help to fill the skills gap in this crucial area."
Ashley Wheaton, Principal of UCEM
