Stroma Technology is seeking an Energy Auditor who will be responsible for the delivery of energy audits into existing buildings and organisations both within the structure of the Energy Savings Opportunity Scheme (ESOS) and for other general clients.

Based in our Wakefield office, the role requires assisting in the development of departmental delivery of services related to ESOS and working to ensure company practices and standards are in line with the requirements of various industry standards, including PAS 51215, BS EN 16247 and others.

The role will require liaison with high level senior management within ESOS qualifying organisations (large undertakings) with a view to establishing a scope of services relating to undertaking key compliance activity, ensuring ongoing compliance for our clients and obtaining final sign off from Director level within our targeted client organisations.

The role will require excellent communication skills, written and verbal, the ability to represent the company professionally in person, and the ability to provide key findings of energy audits. The role may also include liaison with delivery partners.

In time, we anticipate that a delivery team will be established in order to satisfy client demand, and at that point there will be consideration of the applicant taking on team leadership/management responsibility, dependent upon the suitability of the candidates available for the role.

The role will require travel nationally within the UK in order to undertake scoping/briefing meetings at the outset and to undertake the required energy audits as necessary on a client by client basis. A vehicle will be provided to the successful candidate as part of the package on offer and all travel expenses will be reimbursed.

Tasks typically involve:

  • Conducting energy audits of existing buildings
  • Review of energy consumption and benchmarking against industry best practice and ESOS legislation
  • Obtaining ESOS ‘Lead Auditor’ certification/qualification (when detailed)
  • Liaising with delivery partner organisations
  • Delivery of written technical reports to clients

Person specification:


  • Strong experience and/or training/qualifications in the field of energy use in buildings and/or Building Services systems
  • Experience of delivery of energy audits or review of energy efficiency into existing buildings
  • Strong written communication skills including technical report writing (examples required at interview stage)
  • Keen understanding of energy efficiency technologies including, but not strictly limited to, renewable technologies
  • Ability to work autonomously and to manage time and workload
  • Ability to build positive relationships with colleagues and clients
  • Full clean driving license and ability to travel throughout the UK (including stay away from home when required)


  • Membership of a relatable professional body (Energy Institute, CIBSE, RICS, etc)
  • Experience in field of transport energy
  • Qualifications in the delivery of Display Energy Certificates (DECs) and Energy Performance Certificates (EPCs)
  • Experience in public speaking and/or training

Main Purpose of the Role:
Responsible for attending construction sites and performing air tests on building elements and advising clients on appropriate remedial options in the event of failure. Also producing reports relating to on site testing and presentation of results to the client. Clients should be informed of current legislation relating to all aspects of air tightness (including Building Regulations, EcoHomes and Code for Sustainable Homes).

Key tasks:

  • Responsible for carrying out all site testing in accordance with company quality manual systems and procedures.
  • Responsible for:
    • Safe transportation of equipment to the test site from the laboratory.
    • Liaising with site agents.
  • Sizing and planning proposed test methodologies.
  • Setting up equipment to achieve the required testing regime.
  • Carrying out tests in accordance with CIBSE TM23:2000, BS EN 13829:2001, and ATTMA TS1, TSL1 & TSL2.
  • Interpreting and evaluating results during testing.
  • Reporting opinions and interpretations during and after testing.
  • Report writing.
  • Recommending remedial advice in event of test failure.

The main purpose of the role is to compile estimates for a wide range of services in both the commercial and residential sectors to a client or potential client.

Traditionally well known for the provision of UKAS accredited sound insulation testing services, we have made some significant key appointments over the last 18 months of highly experienced consultants. Due to this growth we are looking to appoint an experienced Acoustic Consultant at Senior or Associate level who will be based in the South, South East, or London Region to assist with servicing our project requirements and further developing our market exposure in the southern region.

The ideal candidate shall have the following attributes:

  • You will be an experienced consultant with a minimum of 7 years PQE, educated to degree level in a related subject area and be a full corporate member of the Institute of AcousticsYou must have demonstrable experience and be comfortable with the attendance at design team meetings, and providing technical presentations at business development meetings
  • Be able to work autonomously and as part of a team and be competent in managing projects at design stage level
  • Actively contribute and assist with the technical development of the Acoustic Engineers where necessary and co-ordinate and periodically undertake noise surveys and sound insulation testing
  • Be able to produce technical reports to an excellent standard, and be competent in the use of industry standard computer calculation and modelling software packages.
