Stroma Built Environment provides Temporary Air Sealing for buildings with ventilation systems, before final Air Tightness Testing. Our Temporary Air Sealing services helps to minimise air leakage risks and costs associated with failing an Air Tightness Test.

Nationwide Service

One of the largest teams of ATTMA Air Tightness Engineers in the UK, ensuring a quick response for Temporary Air Sealing services.

Difficult Access Techniques

IRATA Rope Access Technicians to reach difficult access areas for safe and compliant Temporary Air Sealing.

Compliance Experts

Technical expertise associated with Building Regulations compliance, from air sealing requirements, through to final air tightness testing.

UK’s Leading Air Tightness Specialists

Working with our Air Tightness Engineers, we can arrange Temporary Air Sealing services and final air tightness testing around other site works, avoiding costly delays to your project. Our Air Sealing team have carried out thousands of air tightness tests on projects across the UK, and can help to identify:

Areas which require Temporary Air Sealing

The number and size of intakes/extracts/louvres

Where access is required, including restricted access areas

Materials and equipment needed

We’re also able to provide Remedial Air Sealing to identify causes of air leakage through smoke testing methods, as well as temporary air-tight screens and undertaking fire stopping services for server and data rooms.

Air Sealing

"Our rope access team provides specialist difficult access techniques in challenging conditions, as well as scaffold towers, scissor lifts, and cherry pickers. This enables them to carry out Permanent/Temporary Air Sealing and remedial works safely and compliantly."

Minimise Risks of an Air Tightness Test Fail

Our Air Sealing team will work with you to ensure all areas are successfully sealed, minimising risks of air leakage and an air test fail. We’re also able to assist with final air tightness testing and remove temporary air sealing once the final test is completed.

For effective air sealing, our equipment includes extendable props, sheet materials – polythene, foil-faced boards, COREX, thin plywood, and high-quality tapes and glues (including low tack variants to avoid damaging finishes).

Typical air leakage sites include:

Behind dot & dab dry-lining

Interconnecting cavity leakage - stud partitions

Window gaskets & trickle vents, windowsills

Recessed lighting

Air extract vents/ducts

Loft hatches

External door weather seals & thresholds

Radiator pipe penetrations

All mechanical ventilation needs to be turned off, and in some cases, isolated to minimise risks of an air test fail. Intentional ventilation, such as H and V ductwork, louvres, and trickle vents, can be sealed and any drainage taps filled with water. Smoke vents and other elements including external doors and windows should not be sealed to avoid an invalid air-test.
