We recently notified our clients that Stroma Tech, HRS Services and BBS Environmental will be integrating into one business and a new brand - Stroma Built Environment.

We are aware you may have some queries and have drafted the following frequently asked questions to help you.

What are the benefits of working with Stroma Built Environment?

Stroma Built Environment will combine the expertise of HRS, BBSE and Stroma Tech, forming one of the largest providers of Environmental Monitoring, Performance Testing and Energy Management Services in the UK.

We offer many years of experience and a proactive attitude to our customers in addition to our Stroma Group supplemental services that span the entire life cycle of a building from design concept to occupation.

By contracting with Stroma Built Environment you will receive:

  • A national presence across the UK, more dedicated staff, knowledge and expertise close to your site
  • Engage a sole supplier for all consultancy, compliance and testing services
  • Combined experience across all sectors, spanning almost half a century on all project types
  • Dedicated account management
  • Priority access to complementary services offered by the Stroma group of companies such as:
    • Rail, Bridge, Shaft and retaining wall examinations
    • Rope Access and Confined space access and works to tunnels, pits, culverts, chambers etc
    • Drone Surveys
    • Geotechnical works on slopes/embankments
    • Building Control from a CICAIR Approved Inspector

Are our fees likely to increase?

We strive to provide the best possible service with a team of experienced and qualified consultants, assessors and engineers. We offer competitive fees, no matter what size or type of project, and are happy to provide framework agreements for repetitive projects to help you achieve savings on your projects. We regularly review and benchmark our fees against the market to ensure we remain competitive.

Can I be confident that our testing and assessment requirements will be carried out promptly?

We are able to offer our customers a vast team of specialist engineers, technicians and consultants nationwide.  With more remote staff we have a greater geographical reach to provide a responsive service no matter where your project is sited.

I have a great working relationship with a consultant/office. Can this be maintained?

Our organisation is built on close business-to-business relationships and we seek to maintain and improve upon our existing relations that work so well already. Therefore, if you already have a relationship with a named point of contact, you will see no change to the service.

Will previously issued fee proposals remain valid?

All previously issued proposals, framework agreements etc. will be honoured and remain valid.  Once your project is complete you will receive the appropriate certificates and /or reports as you would previously expect.

What happens if there is an issue with an old project carried out by HRS or BBS Environmental?

We have full cover insurance spanning both the old and new legal entities which will provide the same level of cover for all novated projects regardless of the legal entity.  Your account manager / named point of contact will not be changing, so you can raise issues or queries in the same manner you have previously.

Is my contract being novated?

Yes. In order to protect customers, because the staff and assets and financials of HRS Services and BBS Environmental are moving to Stroma Built Environment, it is necessary to novate the contracts in order to ensure the contracting company has the means to discharge the responsibilities under the project.

Is Stroma Built Environment a new entity with no history?

No, Stroma Tech is a long-established company that will be changing its name to Stroma Built Environment Limited. This company has the history, reserves and asset base to support the new division.
The Stroma Built Environment division also includes the combined skills and experience of HRS Services and BBS Environmental gained over almost half a century.

Do I still send my payments to the same place?

Bank account details are provided in the letters sent out to clients and should be used for all payments from 4th February.

If I have queries on my invoices who do I contact?

You still contact the local finance teams you have previously dealt with. If you are unsure, please refer to the address and contact details on the invoice.
