Stroma wears it pink for breast cancer awareness
Castleford-based Stroma held its own wear it pink day on Thursday 29th October 2009, donning pink clothing and selling cakes to raise money and awareness for the Cancer Research Charity's Breast Cancer Campaign.
Activities on the day included a pink-themed quiz, a cake sale and an opportunity to guess the photo caption. In addition, Stroma employees donated money to wear pink clothing and guess the number of sweets in the jar. Pink nail varnishes were also on sale throughout the day; £2 of each sale was donated to the cause.
In all, £216.00 was raised, the figure was generously doubled by the directors to make a grand total of £292 overall. The money will help Breast Cancer Campaign to continue researching the cure for breast cancer, which is the most common form of the disease in the UK, affecting one in nine women throughout their lifetime.
Sarah Bailey, assistant product manager for Stroma and organiser of the event, commented:
"This is the second year Stroma has hosted a wear it pink event to raise money for the Breast Cancer Campaign, which is a very worthy cause. The day was a huge success with plenty of people wearing pink and donating generously. We even managed to beat last year's total."
Based in Castleford, but operating throughout the UK and Ireland, Stroma specialises in measuring and improving building performance across the residential, commercial and public sectors.
