Air-Conditioning Inspections
Air-conditioning systems account for a significant proportion of a building’s energy usage. It is therefore vital to ensure that such systems are regularly inspected to ensure that they are operating efficiently.
Article 9 of the Energy Performance of Buildings Directive (EPBD) requires that all air-conditioning systems with an effective rated output of more than 12kW must be regularly inspected by an energy assessor every 5 years, since the 4th January 2011. Fines may apply if this obligation is not met. Stroma's certified inspectors are qualified to conduct air-conditioning inspections for all types of system.
We use the CIBSE TM44 reporting methodology which is in accordance with the requirements of BS EN 15240. We carry out an extensive survey of the air conditioning system(s) on-site and produce an advisory report, which is both issued to the building owners and lodged on the Non-Domestic Energy Performance Certificate Register.
Advisory reports contain:
- Detailed inspection notes and an assessment of the overall performance of the air-conditioning system.
- Calculations to assess whether the system is adequately sized or oversized for purpose.
- Recommendations for building owners which, if implemented, improve the efficiency and reduce the energy consumption (and CO2 emissions) of the system, resulting in reduced operating costs.
- Alternative solutions to strategy, maintenance regimes and air-conditioning technologies.
