In order to qualify for the Green Deal, energy efficiency measures must be installed by a certified Green Deal Installer (GDI) to the highest quality-assured standards, thereby ensuring that the measures deliver genuine carbon and energy savings. Green Deal Installers must therefore comply with Publicly Available Specification (PAS) 2030, which specifies the requirements for the installation of energy efficiency measures.
There are 26 Green Deal qualifying measures in the PAS 2030 documentation, which is facilitated by BSI Standards Ltd on behalf of the Department of Energy and Climate Change. A further 19 Green Deal measures are in the process of qualification.
Stroma Certification is a certification body for Green Deal Installers and can give you advice regarding the training you will need; in many cases we can suggest some appropriate GDI training providers. We also deliver business awareness sessions to prepare organisations for the Green Deal Installer assessment and certification process.
The applicable qualifications for an installer becoming a Green Deal Installer, in accordance with PAS 2030, are as follows:
- City and Guilds Level 2 Diploma in Plumbing and Heating
- EAL Level 2 Diploma in Plumbing and Heating
- City and Guilds Level 2 Diploma in Installing, Testing and Maintaining Air Conditioning and Heat Pump Systems
- City and Guilds Level 2 Diploma in Heating and Ventilating Industrial and Commercial Installation
- EAL Level 2 Diploma in Heating and Ventilating Industrial and Commercial Installation
- City and Guilds Level 2 Diploma in Domestic Heating
- City and Guilds Level 3 NVQ Diploma in Installing Electrotechnical Systems and Equipment (Buildings, Structures and the Environment)
- EAL Level 3 NVQ Diploma in Installing Electrotechnical Systems and Equipment (Buildings, Structures and the Environment)
- City and Guilds Level 3 NVQ Diploma in Domestic Plumbing and Heating

Once candidates have undergone PAS 2030 compliant training, they will be invited to join the appropriate Green Deal Installer certification scheme with Stroma Certification.
