Domestic Energy Assessment (DEA)
Including DEA Upskill (RdSAP 9.91)

Domestic Energy Assessors (DEAs) are trained and licensed to collect data about an existing domestic property – such as its dimensions, construction and services – in order to generate an Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) using the Reduced Data Standard Assessment Procedure (RdSAP).

Stroma Certification delivers the training and software you need to prepare for becoming a certified DEA.
The training now includes details of the major changes that occurred to the content and format of the domestic EPC in April 2012, and how the redesigned EPC effectively supports the Green Deal framework.

Stroma Certification provides RSAP, our Government-approved RdSAP 9.91 software, free of charge. Using the software, collating and interpreting data and lodging an EPC to meet the required standards is straightforward. During the training course you will receive instruction in use of the software and discover the numerous ways of using it on the move!

Stroma Certification runs the three-day DEA course in locations across the UK. The course has undergone many recent changes to cover the newly-required elements of a DEA’s role, plus practical experience of property surveying and producing EPCs. The DEA training course covers:

Day One

  • The Energy Performance of Buildings Regulations (EPBR) – discovering the targets and Governmental initiatives behind the EPC
  • How to work as a DEA in a safe, effective and professional manner
  • How to prepare a domestic energy assessment in order to produce an EPC
  • Property construction types, including system build properties
  • RSAP (RdSAP software) – overview

Day Two

  • Surveying and measuring properties – including best practice
  • Improving insulation
  • Heating systems
  • Domestic hot water
  • Renewable energy technologies
  • Dating properties

Day Three

  • RSAP+ approved RdSAP software - training
  • Portfolio requirements
  • Q&A

Stroma Certification’s DEA training is approved by ABBE, with whom you are required to register once you have completed the course. ABBE is a specialist awarding body that provides nationally-recognised qualifications for the built environment industry.

You can apply for training online by clicking here; alternatively, please contact our training team on 0845 621 11 11 ext. 603 to discuss further.
