Air Tightness
What is Air Tightness Testing?
Building Regulations for England & Wales, through the Approved Document Part L1a, stipulates the air tightness testing of new domestic buildings.
Air Tightness Testing is a means to quantify the extent to which a property leaks air through the building envelope. This testing procedure measures the infiltration (uncontrolled air leakage) of air, to indicate the performance of a building in terms of both energy efficiency and fabric integrity.
Air tightness can only be verified by a competent air testing personnel, using a relatively non-intrusive test. This test will benefit clients by helping to make their buildings more energy efficient, cost effective and comfortable.
